I usually have a bit of a dilemma around Australia Day as I like fireworks, but hate the unAustralian behaviour that manifests itself amongst the crowds who populate the South Perth foreshore.
All too thankfully the family discovered the City of Canning Fireworks a good many years ago, and now all is right with the world. We missed them last year being in Europe, but got to see them in 2014, so I was looking forward to them this year.
These occur on New Years Day (so you can still enjoy your New Years Eve booze up) and are visible along the Shelley/Waterford banks of the Canning river.
We usually find a seat with a great vantage point but away from the noise and crowds of the organised celebrations. Instead a picnic dinner, fruit platters and left over Christmas goodies makes for a leisurely meal as you track the swans across the river, bask in the glow of the setting sun and set up your camera for amazing pics.
This year's turned out tolerably well, but I have a suspicion the tripod I was using wasn't quite stable enough for my purpose. Oh well...
Hugs and Kisses for 2016!!!
Happy New Year.
